Fill your life with love and kindness

A mental workout pertains to practicing mind and spirit exercises to clearly understand the methods you are using as well as maximizing the benefits you will recieve from each exercise (Dacher, 2006). Just like training your body for a marathon. The more training you recieve, not only does each training get easier but you also increase the body's benefit.
I really enjoyed the loving kindness exercise. It was hard for me at first because I kept switching thinking of different loved ones that I have, but once it got to receiving loved ones pain I knew who to center on. It was so neat I was visualizing that person's pain get smaller and smaller. It was not completely gone before it switched to the next part of the exercise, but I still enjoyed it. I just wish it could actually take their pain away. I also liked doing everyone, this really helped be bring down my guard, even for people I do not like ( I could see my enemy's faces in the crowd of strangers). This really was a good exercise to not be self-centered.

My well-being

Hello professor and classmates,

Hope everyone is doing well.  I thought I was doing fine until I had the realization of reflecting on my well-being.  I would say that my physical state is about an 8 on a 10 scale.  I generally feel good, but I have a few chronic conditions that I would love to get rid of with migraines being one of them.  Unfortunately, I would have to rate my spiritual well-being at about a 5.  I do not normally practice any exercise that broadens my spirit.  Nor have I really had any education in how to do so until this class.  And as for my psychological well-being I would give myself about a 7, but thankfully most of this is naturally.  I am a very easy going person with a naturally calm personality.  Unfortunately, I use this to my advantage and put too much on my plate to the point that I am very easily stressed out physically.  I learned to realize what I can handle mentally and what I can handle physically are two very different levels.

I think allowing myself some down time for myself when I can meditate and exercise by running and set a goal of running 4 times a week and meditating the 3 days that I am not running.  Both of these will increase my well-being physically and mentally, and even spiritually if I choose the correct type of meditation and have a goal of heightened sense of self.

I really liked the rainbow exercise within the “Crime of the Century” meditation exercise.  I liked the fact that we could use our own examples to represent the colors or body parts that these colors represent.  This really think this helped me focus the best and get the most out of this meditation.

Journey On experience

I really liked the Journey On experience that I had.  I did this exercise at work on my lunch break (and yes I still took my shoes off J), and the rest of my day went much more smoothly and stress free.  I loved it, I think I’m going to use my lunch time to de-stress more often.  Does anyone else de-stress during their lunch break at work?  If not try it, it was awesome!

I really liked the idea that I was in control of my body’s processes and blood flow just by thinking about the change, it was so cool.  I’m going to try that anytime I get cold, the extra blood flow to my arms and legs will help me warm up.
